The rumors are true! Trekking in the southern highlands, from the geothermal hot spots in Landmannalaugar to the lush green landscape in Þórsmörk valley, is even more beautiful in person.

Adding Fimmvörðuháls into the equation is absolute magic! The 55-kilometer long Laugavegur trail connects Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve with Þórsmörk valley. See the new craters from the 2010 eruption at Fimmvörðuháls.

Itinerary

Day 1: Reykjavík - Landmannalaugar

Today you will start from the center of Reykjavik to make the most of the day. The drive to Landmannalaugar will take about 3-4 hours, along the south coast, and then up into the highlands, where you will spend the rest of the week.

The journey is highly scenic and fascinating, taking you by the magnificent volcano mountain, Hekla, the most active volcano in Iceland. This volcano as said by many Europeans in the Middle Ages to be 'The Gateway to Hell,' has erupted every 10–15 years throughout the last century.

Landmannalaugar is the starting point for the Laugavegur trail. You will make your way through the Laugahraun lava field and Vondugil canyon. You will also admire the incredibly vibrant colors of the rhyolite mountains, most notably Mt. Brennisteinsalda. On the way back to Landmannlaugar for overnight, you will see the Graenagil gorge and climb up to Blahnukur Volcano if time allows.

Cozy Huts. You will stay in a different cozy mountain hut each night along the trek. They have bunk rooms with single and twin beds, participants have to be prepared to share a bunk rooms with other travelers from the group.

Any cancellation done 61 days prior to the departure day gets a full refund minus 10% cost of the trip. This percentage reflects our cost of booking and preparing your trip.

From day 60 until 31 you have the right to a 50% refund of cost of the trip.

From day 30 until the day of departure, will not receive any refund.
