Climbing
Your attempt to scale this beautiful peak starts from Lukla from where you will head towards its base camp via Zatar La Pass (4,610m/15,124ft). The base camp of Mera Peak is situated at an altitude of 4,800m (15,700ft). On the way, you walk through culturally rich Sherpa villages. Because of the high altitude you have to ascend during the trip, you have to have proper acclimatization prior to attempting to scale this peak.
Though acclivity of Mera Peak does not throw you the most extreme challenges like some of the more demanding Himalayan peaks do, it won't leave you disappointed. The altitude and ascent of Mera Peak presents you the challenge professional peak climbers overtake while scaling more challenging peaks. What adds to the excitement is the view you get to behold once at the summit. Once at the top, you will be welcomed by an exquisite view of endless chain of majestic peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Baruntse, something worth every of the hardness you undertake.
The base camp of the Mera Peak is at an altitude of 5,300m on the Hongu sector while the high camp is at an altitude of 5,800m on a rocky projection. As you ascend as high as 6461m, the trip presents enough challenge. Altitude sickness can be an issue. Plus, as you ascend even smaller acclivities seem to take infinity for you to ascend, the challenges of standard peak climbing will all be there. You will learn the required skills as you travel ahead.
