What is the best time to do this trek?

The month of March to May in Spring and mid-October to December in autumn seasons are considered the best for the Everest Base Camp Trek as the weather conditions become favorable during this time, providing you with good visibility and a suitable atmosphere for Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Heli trekking.

Is travel insurance mandatory?

We highly recommend securing travel and medical insurance not only to cover any emergencies during the trip but also last minute cancellations. The insurance must cover helicopter evacuation too.

Question 3

Do guides or porters carry oxygen tanks on Everest Base Camp trek?

Accepted Answer

No, as there is enough time to acclimatize while trekking it felt there is no need for them. If someone feels the effects of altitude then there are facilities along the trek at various points and it’s easy to get.

What are the effects of going to such high altitudes?

Accepted Answer

Altitude produces physical changes in the body. The higher you go, the more pronounced those changes. If you gain a lot of elevation quickly then you experience dizziness, nausea, headaches, and dehydration, you are probably suffering from altitude sickness. In rare cases this may worsen, so the group leader keeps a close watch on all trekkers. The group leader is trained to recognize Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). If a trekker shows any signs of AMS they will be evacuated to a lower, safe altitude immediately. To minimize effects of altitude you ascend slowly which allows for safe acclimatization.

Can I upgrade my accommodation?

The price of this trip is based on double occupancy in 3* hotels. You can upgrade to single occupancy for a fee. It is also possible to upgrade your accommodation to 4*/5*. Contact us for more information at team@adventuretripr.com.

Question 6

What is the fitness level required for this trek?

Accepted Answer

You need to be in good shape and physical condition for this trek. After booking, you will get a training plan which takes 3-4 months. However, you don’t need any previous experience or specific mountaineering skills to trek the EBC.
Additionally to the training, you should have a medical check before the trip. Ask your doctor:
- If high altitude trekking is permissible for your age, fitness level and health condition
- If you have any preexisting medical conditions that can cause problems on the climb
- If any of your medications can affect high altitude acclimatization
- Whether Diamox can be taken with your existing prescription medicines

Question 7

I hear there are often delays in this trek, what can I expect?

Accepted Answer

Please note that often the Kathmandu-Lukla flight gets delayed by a few hours or may even be canceled for one, two, or more days due to unfavorable weather conditions. Such conditions may arise even in the best seasons. Hence, in such cases, you must be prepared for long waits either at Kathmandu or Lukla airports, as this can happen either at the start or end of the trek or even both!
We added an extra day in Kathmandu at the end to cover for any delays in the trip, however you should book travel insurance and a flexible flight ticket to cover for any unexpected changes
