Once you’re awake, head out to explore the unique landscape with sculptured red rocks and rare Joshua Trees plus other desert cacti growing in large numbers. There are many highlights you don't want to miss and you can fill your day with nature experiences on walks, hikes, and special views that you won't find anywhere else. 

Wild animals can be seen in the rocky area including bighorn sheep and lots of birds, especially close to a wonderful fan palm oasis. You can do a fun hike through boulder piles and desert washes and enjoy Joshua tree forests and panoramic views of the San Andreas Fault, Mt. San Jacinto (which you visited yesterday), and the Salton Sea.

Head back to town for a restful soak in the springs, before a comfortable night in bed.

After breakfast at your hotel restaurant and maybe another short swim in the hot springs, leave to go to Palm Springs for some amazing walks and hikes through the canyons. This area abounds with unique flora and fauna; old-growth native Californian Palms towering over hidden ponds creating a mysterious environment in the middle of the desert. These are sacred lands to the local tribe which has lived here for thousands of years.

In the later afternoon, after you’ve finished exploring, return home to Los Angeles and start thinking about your next trip out.
