Backpacking the Escalante Route for a world-class experience in rugged Grand Canyon terrain.

See some of the most incredible river, rapid and Canyon vistas that 99.98% of Grand Canyon visitors will never see, or even know exist.

Do a scrambles over the Papago Wall and Slide.

While no experience is needed, this trek is best suited for experienced backpackers or motivated individuals with an appetite to experience some of the Grand Canyon’s most remote, rugged and rewarding terrain.

Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight in Flagstaff

On the evening before your trek start date, you convene at 6:00pm for a one hour group orientation and pack-check in the main lobby of Little America Hotel in Flagstaff, You will also get to know our team, preview the trail and talk safety.

Day 2: Lipan Point to Tanner Beach

Day 3: Tanner Beach to Escalante Beach

Day 4: Escalante Beach to Red Canyon

Day 5: Red Canyon To New Hance Trailhead

Do not forget to arrange for the requisite passport, visa and travel insurance, if you are booking an international trip.

We try our best to ensure accurate and up-to-date guide information, but in some cases this may change due to emergencies or other unforeseen guide scheduling challenges. In any case, another highly-rated, certified guide with similar experience would lead your trip and you will be kept informed of any such case.

Cancellation Policy

A $475 deposit per person is required with balance due 60 days prior to the event. Deposits are 100% refundable until 90 days prior to trek departure. The exact dates for your trek may be adjusted +/- one day until permits are finalized roughly 4 months (120 days) in advance of departure (when Grand Canyon permits are issued), providing ample time to plan transportation to and from the Canyon, or decline the dates and receive your deposit back in full. Cancellations made at least 60 days prior to departure will receive a full refund, less deposit. For cancellations made within 60 days of departure, credit will be issued in full for any payments made which can be applied to any future experience, and valid for up to two years from the date of cancellation.
