Overview

If you are a beginner mountaineer Mt. St. Helens should be your first volcano summit under a professional guide to learn the skills to summit with confidence. From the top you can see Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Adams on a clear day, and even see down into the crater below you!

This is a single-day hike. This adventure is a full day, and you should be in adequate physical condition to attempt the hike.

Day 1: Mt. St. Helens Summit

You will meet your guide in the predetermined place and time. After having a quick gear check you will drive to the trail head and start your climb.

Summer Route: Monitor Ridge Climbing Route

Distance: 10 mi/16 km Round trip

Elevation Gain: 4,500 ft/1,371m

Winter Route: Worm Flows Route

Distance: 12 mi/19.3 km

Elevation Gain: 5,699 ft/1,737 m
