Lakpa R

Lakpa is one the most well known and respected mountain guide in the world. Born and raised in the small village of Thame, Lakpa followed the footsteps of his father and began his first mountaineering expedition at the age of 18 in 1984. From what began as a job, Lakpa soon realized mountaineering was his true passion. On October 7th of 1990, Lakpa made his first summit to Mt. Everest and since then, he has made over 17 summits, and let 36 expeditions, guiding a record of 254 climbers to the summit. Lakpa moved to the United States in 2000 and started working as a full-time mountain guide around the world, leading expeditions in Alaska, Antarctica, and South America. In 2009, he became the first Sherpa to climb the seven summits. Lakpa was also named the outside magazine’s “Adventurer of the year” in 2013. Lakpa has been guiding full time for over 30 years worldwide with several different guiding companies.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350m/4430ft)

Once you arrive at the Kathmandu Airport, you will be transferred to the Yak and Yeti Hotel located at the center of Kathmandu. In the evening you will have gears check and orientation.

Day 2: Kathmandu City Tour

Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2,828m/9,279ft) and trek to Phakding (2,780m/9,121ft)

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,287 ft)

Day 5: Rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization

Day 6: Trek to Thame (12,303 ft.)

Day 7: Trek to Khumjung (12,434 ft.)

Day 8: Trek to Pangboche (13,074 ft.)

Day 9: Trek to Dingboche (4,350m/ 14,469 ft.)

Day 10: Rest and acclimatization day

Day 11: Trek to Lobuche (4,910m/16,174 ft.)

Day 12: Trek to Gorak Shep (16,995ft./ 5,180m) and hike up to Kala Patthar (18,300 ft./5,577 m)

Day 13: Trek to Everest Base Camp (17,600 ft.) and back to Dukhla

Day 14: Trek to Tengboche (12,664 ft.)

Day 15: Trek to Namche Bazaar

Day 16: Trek to Lukla (2,828m/9,279ft.)

Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,350m/4,430ft.)
