Question 3

What equipment will the climbers be required to bring along?

Accepted Answer

Once you book your climb, you will be provided with a detailed gear list. In addition to your regular hiking gear, expect to bring along: 
Personal climbing equipment such as: 
- Climbing Boots
- Gaiters
- Crampons
- 60-65 liter backpack
- Sleeping Bag
- Sleeping Pad
- Snowshoes, if needed
Additional Clothing:
- Mountaineering socks and liners
- Base layers
- Mid layer
- Waterproof layers (top and bottom)
- Insulated jacket / parka
- Fleece or wool Hat
- Gloves and liner
Other items:
- Glacier sunglasses
- Lunches and Snacks

Question 4

Are these climbs suitable for everyone?

Accepted Answer

This 2 day climb is on an aggressive schedule and is a challenging goal. It should be signed up for if you are in very good physical condition and committed to train diligently. Proper conditioning and preparation will be crucial to a successful summit.
You should be prepared to hike up to 2,500 feet over 3.5 miles on day 1 with a pack weighing around 40-45 liters, and be prepared to climb up 5,000 feet over 3 miles the next day on little or no sleep, in order to accommodate an alpine start in safe mountain conditions. Remember your second day will end after hiking down about 5.5 miles with 7,300 feet of elevation loss with a full pack, after your summit.

Will my money be refunded if the guides cancel the trip for any reason?

Accepted Answer

This trip will proceed regardless of the weather conditions and will be canceled only if the guides determine conditions to be unsafe, in which case the guides will do their best to accommodate an alternative climbing date, subject to guide availability, or refund the entire amount. The guiding company or AdventureTripr shall not be responsible for any costs incurred by the participants due to such a change, including flight changes, hotel costs, etc. The participants are highly encouraged to obtain trip cancellation insurance. Coverage should include trip cancellation, baggage loss, non-refundable airline tickets, accident/life coverage, and travel days. Participants are also encouraged to purchase medical, disability, life, and rescue insurance. The guiding company or AdventureTripr does not provide any such insurance coverage and participants acknowledge it is their own responsibility to acquire insurance for themselves.

Question 7

Is prior experience required for this climb?

Accepted Answer

Previous ice axe/crampon climbing experience is helpful but is not required. Previous time spent at elevations similar to Mt. Shasta will also help with your climb. That said, this is a guided climb where the guides will guide you through the required technical knowledge, and you should be able to summit as long as you are in great physical condition.
Please note that this 2 day climb only includes a skills briefing and does not include a snow school session where the guides spend a significant amount of time teaching snow skills to the participants.

Is travel insurance/medical insurance mandatory?
