On this snowshoeing and snow camping trip for beginners, participants will learn how to camp in cold conditions in a mountainous environment, away from avalanche terrain. Cold climates in the Pacific Northwest can be challenging, and coupled with the extremes of mountain weather, it can be dangerous. Learn what knowledge, skills, and gear are needed to keep you safe and comfortable on a winter trip in the nearby mountains or on an extended expedition further into the wilderness.
The location for this trip is dependent upon weather and avalanche danger and will be determined by the guides closer to the date, after taking into account all considerations.
Snowshoes and poles are provided for class participants. We will have a gear check and a session covering snowshoe techniques, required equipment, and attire.
Participants will also learn how to camp in extreme cold weather conditions in a mountainous environment.
