Mt Shasta 3 Day Climb-Fundraiser for Asha for Education

duration: 3 days

difficulty: Strenuous

group size: 12

experience: Beginner

Overview

Climb Mt. Shasta, a beautiful volcano in the Cascade range, standing tall at 14,179 feet. The Avalanche Gulch route used for this climb can be a great introduction to mountaineering for beginner mountaineers who are in good physical condition. Your guides will teach you the skills necessary for your climb and provide the group gear.

This is a 3 day guided climb, run as a fund raiser for Asha and includes a guided snow skills session organized by Asha. In the climb itself, you will learn and practice skills such as snow camping, snow walking techniques, roping up, self arrest, and more along the way, which are the foundational skills for climbing more mountains in future.

Whether this is your first 14er or your first glaciated climb, you are sure to get a taste of mountaineering with a hike to basecamp, followed by an early alpine start on the following day and push to the summit, before descending down the mountain.

This climb is led by the SWS Mountain guides who hold the permits to operate on Shasta-Trinity National Forest and operates on a non-discriminatory basis.

This trip has a 3:1 climber to guide ratio.

Please reach out to us at team@adventuretripr.com or via WhatsApp for bulk bookings of more than 6 participants.

It’s brings focus, commitment, trust, presence. I am at peace when climbing, totally immersed on the task at hand. Itinerary

Day 1: Equipment check and hike to Horse Camp

On the first day of your climb, you will meet your guides in the guiding company office at Mt Shasta. After a brief introduction, the guides will conduct a complete pack check and distribute the group gear to each participant.

Once this is done you will then drive to the Bunny Flat trailhead (6,950ft) for another group briefing and start the approach to base camp at Horse Camp (8,000ft).

At the base camp you will set up camp, get a snack and another briefing from your guides on various snow climbing techniques including wearing crampons, ice axe use, rope travel, and self arrest.

Depending upon the mountain conditions, group desires and availability of snow for teaching, guides might decide to continue to high camp (9,800ft) and set up a tent there instead.

You will then return to camp for an early dinner and evening briefing.
