4-Day Peru Inca Trail Trek To Machu Picchu with Emily

DAY 1

Cusco - KM 82 - Ayapata

The night before your Inca Trail hike, you'll have a briefing with your trekking guide at 6:30 p.m. at your hotel, though our guiding partner can arrange a different time if needed.

On the morning of the first day, you’ll be picked up from your hotel by private transportation (timing based on your location) for a scenic drive to the trailhead at KM 82, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Andes along the way.

The hike begins with a relatively flat stretch for the first two and a half hours, leading you to the Inca site of Llactapata. Here, you’ll get your first glimpse into Incan culture and learn about the fascinating history of Peru. Afterward, you’ll continue for another hour and a half until you reach our lunch stop. After a well-deserved rest, you’ll proceed for another two and a half hours to your first camp at Ayapata (elevation: 10,826 ft / 3,300 m).

Total Distance: 8.7 miles / 14 kms

Total Time: 6 hours

Elevation Loss: 656 ft / 200 m

Elevation Gain: 2,625 ft / 800 m

Overnight in: Camping at Camp Ayapata

Ayapata - Dead Women’s Pass - Pacaymayo - Chaquicocha

DAY 3

Chaquiccoha - Phuyupatamarca - Wiñay Wayna

DAY 4

Wiñay Wayna - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Return to Cusco

Cusco - KM 82 - Ayapata

DAY 2

Ayapata - Dead Women’s Pass - Pacaymayo - Chaquicocha
