Arrive in El Chaltén

Arrive at El Calafate International Airport (FTE), the main gateway to Argentina’s Patagonia region. After meeting your driver, begin a scenic drive through the vast Patagonian steppe toward El Chaltén, a charming mountain village nestled inside Los Glaciares National Park.

Along the way, you may catch your first distant views of the dramatic granite peaks of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, which dominate the skyline of this region. El Chaltén is known as the trekking capital of Argentina, with trails beginning directly from the village.

Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the relaxed alpine atmosphere of this small mountaineering town. You may choose to stroll around town or visit a local café while preparing for the hikes ahead.
