The Everest Base Camp trek route is open year-round, but the best time for the Everest Base Camp trek is from March to May and mid-October to December, when weather and visibility are at their finest.

Can I upgrade my accommodation?

Accepted Answer

The price of this trip is based on double occupancy. Single occupancy upgrades are available for an additional fee. You can also upgrade to a different property for your accommodation. What is the fitness level required for this trek?

Accepted Answer

The 17-day Everest Base Camp trek requires good fitness and physical condition. After booking, you will receive a 3-4 month training plan. No prior mountaineering experience is necessary. Additionally, it’s recommended to have a medical check-up before the trip. Consult your doctor on the following:
• If high-altitude trekking is safe for your age, fitness level, and health condition
• If any preexisting conditions could affect the trek
• Whether your medications could interfere with high-altitude acclimatization
• If Diamox is compatible with your current medications

What are the effects of going to such high altitudes?

Accepted Answer

As you ascend, your body undergoes physical changes due to the increasing altitude. The higher you go, the more pronounced these changes become. If you gain elevation quickly, you may experience symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, headaches, and dehydration, which are signs of altitude sickness. In rare cases, symptoms may worsen, so the group leader closely monitors all trekkers. Trained to recognize Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), the leader will evacuate any trekker showing signs of AMS to a lower, safe altitude immediately. To minimize altitude-related effects, the trek follows a gradual ascent, allowing for safe acclimatization.

Is travel insurance mandatory?

Travel and emergency evacuation insurance is mandatory for this trip due to the challenging nature of the hike. The insurance must cover helicopter evacuation, as well as trip cancellations and flight changes. This ensures that you are fully protected in case of unforeseen circumstances, providing peace of mind throughout the adventure.

I hear there are often delays in this trek, what can I expect?

Please note that the Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu flight can often be delayed by a few hours or even canceled for one or more days due to unfavorable weather conditions, even during the best seasons. This may occur at the start, end, or both ends of the trek. In such cases, be prepared for long waits at either Kathmandu or Lukla airports.
To accommodate potential delays, we’ve added an extra day in Kathmandu at the end of the trip. However, it is strongly recommended to book travel insurance and a flexible flight ticket to cover any unexpected changes or delays.
