The aim is to equip you with the knowledge and self-assurance needed to independently plan and execute both long and short backpacking adventures in the future. During this trek, you'll conquer a 32-mile stretch of the PCT over 4 days and 3 nights. The skills you'll acquire include:
1. Utilizing maps and guidebooks for logistical planning and daily distance calculations.
2. Locating and setting up camp.
3. Sourcing and purifying water sources.
4. Cooking meals and mastering the use of various types of stoves.
5. Basic trail first aid.
6. Navigating using a compass.

Tracey Degnan is the founder of the Woman Hiking Chicagoland Facebook group, established in March 2021. This group primarily centers around local hikes in forest preserves within the Chicagoland area and extends to various outdoor activities, including kayaking, camping, snowtubing, and snowshoeing. Her enthusiasm for the great outdoors fuels her desire to explore a broader range of activities and adventures worldwide, connecting with like-minded individuals who share her passion. Among her notable hiking achievements are a 23-mile trek around Lake Geneva in Wisconsin and a hike along a section of the Appalachian Trail in Maryland.
