Overview

On this 12 day trip to Iceland, you will see all the bucket list sights of Iceland and trek the Laugavegur trail, rated as one of the top 10 treks in teh world by National Geographic.  

This is a semi-guided trip where your exploration of the south coast is a self-guided and self-drive expereince, for which you will be provided with a detailed digital itinerary prepared by local guides which you follow at your own pace. You accommodations will be pre-booked for this part of the trip.  

On the 6 day trek to the Icelandic Highlands you will be guided by local expert guides, while staying over night in the huts along the trail. The 55-kilometer long Laugavegur trail connects Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve with Þórsmörk valley. On this trek you will also see the new craters from the 2010 eruption at Fimmvörðuháls.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavík

Self-guided day:  

Arrive in Reykjavík and check into your hotel. Your guide will take you on a city walk tour where you will be introduced to the bustling downtown area while pointing out great restaurants, charming cafés and museums in the area. Highlights you will visit include the concert hall Harpa, the old harbor area, the parliament building, the small city lake and more! This is a great way to see the best of Reykjavik and get some inside info on hidden gems in the city from a local guide.
