Sierra Mountain Backpacking Trip with SAC community

duration: 3 days

difficulty: Moderate

group size: 5

experience: Intermediate

Overview

This guided trip will take you to some of the most beautiful destinations in the area. You’ll be passing through the Ansel Adams Wilderness, hiking alongside Shadow Creek, and taking in views of Mount Ritter and Banner Peak. You’ll get introduced to Thousand Island Lake along the way and set up camp at Badger Lakes.

This is an introductory backpacking trip for those who are seeking adventure and looking to get a bit out of their comfort zones. You will hike into the alpine, carrying what you need, and seeing beautiful mountains, forests, and alpine lakes. This route provides a little something for everybody. If you want to get out and get after it, you can do the full loop. Or if you would rather rest, relax, and take in the views, then the shorter loop can be accommodated by camping on the rock slabs at Garnet Lake, then dropping back to the river trail at Agnew Meadows.

Much of your route will be along the Nüümü Poyo, also known as the John Muir Trail. Nüümü Poyo is the original name for these trails which were used as trade routes, built and maintained by the Paiute and Shoshone tribes. In Paiute, the name Nüümü Poyo means the People’s Trail. A portion of sales collected from this trip will be donated to the Owens Valley Paiute-Shoshone Cultural Center. We encourage those that are making the trip to visit the center.

Please note that we need at least 4 people to run this group trip. In the event we do not receive minimum bookings, your entire booking amount will be refunded.
