Join Women Who Hike as we scale Mt Adams, Washington’s second tallest peak. This two-day instructional climb will introduce climbers to ice axe and crampon use, backcountry travel and camping, movement on snow and self-arrest techniques, as well as climbing self-care. Expansive views from the summit include Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Hood, and are some of the most breathtaking in the Northwest.
Women Who Hike is a US based organization that through community connects and inspires those who are on their own explorative journey through hiking, self-discovery, and a connection to nature. You’ll be joined by a group of like-minded women where encouragement is key!
On our Mt. Adams climb you'll be taught how to use crampons and an ice axe and learn the skills and techniques of mountain climbing. Prior experience with backpacking and camping is highly recommended.
This is a 2-day 1-night adventure, and you must be in above adequate physical condition to attempt this objective. Mount Adams is known as “Pahto” or “Klickitat” by some Native American tribes.
Note: This trip requires a minimum of 5 participants to run.

Grew up on the lakes and tromping around the piney, snowy woods of northern Michigan. There I enjoyed skiing, ice-skating, kayaking, fishing and other water sports. Somehow ended up in Chicago for 8 years….in my office, I dreamed of mountains and the outdoors. Moved to Portland about a decade ago to be an art librarian. Finally made my dreams a reality, librarian by week and outdoor adventurer/professional by weekend. For the past 6 years, I have worked volunteering as a recreational climbing educator, outdoor exposure for at-risk youth as an instructor and guide; as well as supporting local public/academic libraries. For the past 4 years, I’ve professionally guided hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, mountaineering and (most recently) skiing.
Do not forget to arrange for the requisite passport, visa and travel insurance, if you are booking an international trip.
