Trekking through the Himalayas is a once in a lifetime experience, and a bucket list trip for many hikers. What better way than to improve your physical conditioning than training for a trek to Everest Base Camp? This adventure offers a combination of fitness, culture, and some of the most dramatic landscapes in the Himalaya. The guiding team and Carl will travel with you during the trek, and each day will start with a warmup led by Carl.

Everest Base Camp Trek starts by exploring the capital city of Kathmandu, also known as the Ancient City. Each day the practice begins with the centring of the mind and body to be present in the peaceful environment of the mountain. On the trek, you will summit the peak of Kala Patthar (18,365') with amazing views of Everest’s Southwest Face and the 10-mile-long Khumbu Glacier (the world’s highest glacier), and continue all the way to Everest Base Camp at 17,600 feet.

Carl has his degree in Exercise Science and has been working at one of the country’s most profound health clubs (PRO Sports Club in Bellevue, WA) for the past 20 years. Among the many other things he does, he teaches a fitness class called Mountain Conditioning preparing people for alpine adventures. He enjoys mountaineering, trail running, skiing and is always thinking about the next challenge/adventure. His climbing resume includes all Washington volcanos at least twice, several other Cascade peaks, and a handful of other climbs in the region. He is an intermediate graduate of Seattle Mountaineers. Carl also has the unique mountaineering accomplishment of being naked on top of all five Washington volcanoes and Mount Olympus.

I am originally from the Gorkha district of Nepal. I am a government trained professional trekking guide and I have guided on most of the trekking routes and tours in Nepal. I am also a travel consultant for several well-known trekking companies. It has been an exciting journey for me. I started as a porter and worked my way up to become a highly respected guide and consultant. I now run a trekking company. Nepal is a fascinating and diverse country, where just a few miles will take you into a completely different landscape. I enjoy finding new routes so that our clients can have the best possible choice. And I enjoy travelling with them as they discover my country for themselves.
