Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to San Pedro and visit the Chaxa Lagoon

You will be picked from the Calama airport and transferred to your lodge located in the Oasis of San Pedro de Atacama, the heart of the Likan Antai culture, the perfect base to explore the desert, Andes highlands and salt flats.

In the afternoon, you will leave in a van to Toconao, located to the south of San Pedro de Atacama. You will walk to the village square and then through an area of vegetable gardens. Finally you will take a van to the Chaxa Lagoon, located in the Los Flamencos National Reserve, an ideal place for bird watching within Atacama’s Salt Flat.

Back at the lodge, enjoy a replenishing dinner, and on special occasions join the Quincho –a BBQ event that takes place in a traditional adobe house. Travelers gather for a traditional spit-roasted-lamb and other local dishes– accompanied by Andean music and dance performances by local artists.
