We have split our destinations into tiers to help you decide what works best for you, in terms of the level of fitness you are aspiring to achieve, and the destination you want to visit. 

By booking a trip you’re setting yourself a solid goal for the year. As you know, our trips always have an element of adventure and physical activity. Some even require training and perhaps acquiring new skills. It’s a fantastic way to get you motivated, and sustain new habits and a new hobby! 

We have broken down our most popular Adventure Trips into three tiers - challenging, moderate, and beginner! So whether you want to get started, improve your fitness or get into the best shape of your life, check out these 9 awesome adventure trips that will get you there!  Then,

Tier 1 - Challenging

These adventures will require top physical condition. You will need to work hard and train diligently. But, as you’ll see, these destinations are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity worth every effort you put in. The reward is yours to earn and brag about!!!

Everest Base Camp

Trekking through the Himalayas is a spiritual experience, you cannot find anything even close to these views anywhere else in the world. 

It’s also a great way to immerse oneself in the local culture and meet new people worldwide. Additionally, the trek offers a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and to connect with nature in a unique and memorable way. What is a better challenge in 2023 than to explore and trek to the base camp of the highest mountain in the world. 

Highlights: 

  • The Tengboche Monastery

  • Unmatched views of some of the world's tallest peaks

  • Getting up to some of the world’s highest glaciers like Khumbhu

Duration: 15 Days            

Top Tip: If you are short on time, we recommend doing the Heli trek which takes only 10 days as you fly back in a helicopter instead of trekking.  

Mt. Kilimanjaro, Machame Route

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa at 19,341 feet, is a popular and challenging trek that offers many rewards for those who attempt it. 

One of the main attractions of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is the opportunity to experience the diverse range of ecosystems that are found on the mountain. As you climb from the base to the summit, you will pass through rainforests, heathlands, moorlands, and alpine deserts. This allows you to see a wide range of plants and animals, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. Who wouldn’t want to claim to have climbed the roof of Africa???

Top Tip: Follow your guide's recommendations for acclimatization and take it ‘pole pole’ as your guides ask you to go slow in Swahili.

Machu Picchu, Peru

There are very few trails where you pass 500-year-old archaeological treasures while also hiking among some of the most beautiful mountains and subtropical jungles on earth. 

Did you know that Machu Picchu is one of the 7 wonders of the world? While hiking you’ll also have the immense pleasure of meeting the local people and learning about the rich history and culture.

Highlights: 

  • Dead Women’s Pass

  • Sungate

  • Ancient Incan Ruins

Duration: 4 days  

Top Tip: Stretch when you have long breaks, when you’re not moving your muscles are going to get cold. They’ll become sore and it’ll be harder to get moving.

W Trek, Patagonia

The W Trek is significantly harder than most hiking trips in Patagonia as you are trekking back to back for 5 days. You will walk alongside the breathtaking “Cuernos des Paine” and be amazed by the shapes of the “Francés Valley,” the magnificent Grey Glacier, and the southernmost tip of the Chilean Patagonia’s Southern Ice Fields where ice blends into clouds on the horizon. A really great combination of moderate to tough levels of hiking and truly breathtaking and unique scenery.

Highlights: 

  • Three granite towers that gave the national park its name. 

  • Hanging Glacier

  • Maybe even see an avalanche  

Duration: 7 days  

Top Tip: Be sure to spend a day exploring the rest of the Torres del Paine national park for an opportunity to see wildlife ranging from Wanacos to Flamingos to Condors.

Tier 2 - Moderate

These trips have a great mixture of hiking, and other adventure sports like rafting, ziplining, kayaking and sightseeing. You’ll need to train, but the intensity is lesser, typically you wouldn’t need to do anything more than your usual workout! Just need to stay consistent and what better motivation than signing up for one of the trips listed below.

Ecuador

Ecuador is home to a treasure of unique climates with some of the most biodiversity and spectacular geography on the planet while indulging in multi-sport adventures. Witness the spectacular Avenue of Volcanoes while hiking and biking on the slopes of the Andes. Explore the waterfall canyons and raft along the Jatunyacu River whose waters flow into the mighty Amazon River. 

Highlights:

  • Cotopaxi volcano and Cuicocha crater lake trek  

  • Cloud forest hiking and biking  

  • Rafting and canyoning in the Amazon 

  • Visit indigenous villages and markets 

Duration: 8 days 

Top Tip: While in Ecuador, add on a trip to Galapagos Islands to get close to the unique wildlife and explore volcanic formations on the islands.

Iceland

Hike your way around to explore the varied Icelandic landscapes, from black sand beaches and lava fields to glaciers and waterfalls. Hiking is a popular pastime in Iceland, and the country has a strong culture of outdoor adventure. You'll be in good company on the trails!

  • Golden Circle  

  • South Coast Waterfalls, including Seljalandsfoss  

  • Jokulsarlon Glacier

Duration: 6 days    

Top Tip: The weather is unpredictable, always check and be prepared for anything in terms of gear and clothing layers.

Costa Rica

In Costa Rica, go exploring rainforests, cloud forests, and even tropical beaches, all on the same trip, enjoying their great weather all year round! Get ready to enjoy canyoneering, white water rafting, zip lining, surfing and much more. 

Highlights:

  • Monteverde Cloud Forest

  • Arenal Volcano

  • Zip lining above the rainforest

  • Samara Beach

Duration: 9 days  

Top Tip: You can fly into the San Jose airport and explore the capital city before exploring the country's natural and bio-diverse wonders and make your way up through the destinations, before flying out from the international airport in Liberia, located in the northern part of the country.  

Tier 3 - Easy

Never really hiked before? But looking to jump in and see all the wonderful things our planet has to offer? These are for you! This is a worthy goal for 2023 once you get the adventure bug there’s no going back!

The islands offer endless opportunities to witness a unique abundance of wildlife in a setting unlike any other on the planet. 

Due to its isolation, the Galapagos formed a natural sanctuary that preserves species, allowing them to evolve over countless millennia. This is one of the few places on earth that allows such close and intimate contact with wildlife.

Highlights:

  • Sierra Negra Volcano  

  • Kayaking and snorkeling with sea turtles, rays, penguins and sea lions  

  • Tintoreras and lava tunnels  

  • The Charles Darwin research station  

  • Encounter with wild giant tortoises 

Duration: 7 days

Top Tip: Don’t underestimate dehydration. Drink water even when you’re not thirsty. Always have a water bottle or hydration pack with you, and refill it whenever you have the opportunity.

Ladakh

In Ladakh, you will witness some of the most beautiful and unique landscapes in the world, including high-altitude deserts, snow-capped mountains, and sparkling blue lakes.

It is home to a variety of unique plant and animal species, including snow leopards, ibex, and Himalayan blue sheep. Hiking in Ladakh offers the opportunity to spot some of these rare and beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.

  • Zanskar River confluence

  • Pangong Lake

  • Buddhist Monasteries of Ladakh

Duration: 7 days 

Top Tip: Before heading out on farther away adventures of Ladakh, don’t miss going to the Magnetic Hill, 30 km from Leh, where vehicles defy gravity.
