Overview

This Intro to Snow Skills course is brought to you by AdventureTripr, and Women Who Hike. Spend a day on the mountain learning how to walk on a snow field, use crampons and self arrest using an ice axe.

This course will be held at Mt. Rainier National Park and is perfect for learning the basic mountaineering skills you need to summit the beginner mountaineering peaks on your bucket list, including Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams and Mt. Shasta.

Note: A minimum of 6 is required to run this trip.

Itinerary

Day 1: Beginner Snow Skill Session

Climbing the PNW's iconic peaks and other glaciated climbs require a special set of skills to ensure safety and a good experience.

Learn how to use alpine climbing boots, crampons, and an ice axe to ascend alpine slopes of up to 40 degrees steepness. This course will prepare you for climbs such as Mt. Helens, Mt. Adams via the South Spur and South Sister.
