We are excited to partner with Adventure Mamas Initiative (AMI) and welcome 8 adventurous mamas to embark on an unforgettable experience in the wilderness, exploring the awe-inspiring Reflection Canyon. We will build community, explore and expand the edges of self-knowing, and deepen our relationship with this wild landscape.. Reflection Canyon stands as a coveted destination on the bucket list of landscape photographers and adventurers alike. Tucked away in the heart of Grand Staircase Escalante, this natural wonder can only be reached by foot. Here, you'll discover panoramic vistas, remote red rock landscapes, the glistening waters of Lake Powell, and an endless sky – the very essence of a classic adventure.  

However, accessing this sought-after viewpoint is no easy feat. The closest outpost of civilization is the charming town of Escalante, Utah. From there, prepare for a rugged journey spanning over fifty miles of increasingly challenging dirt roads, followed by a minimum of 15+ off-trail miles of hiking (7.5 miles each way). Yet, for intrepid adventurers undeterred by these challenges, backpacking in Reflection Canyon is akin to stepping through a portal into a different world.

Darcey Fairchild

Darcey, a fifth generation, non-indigenous Montana Mama, spent her younger years skiing and exploring outdoor spaces where she cultivated a deep passion for nature. Early in her career, she worked as a professional ski instructor and wildland firefighter, but has since settled into her current roles as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Co-Director of Adventure Mamas Initiative. As a mother, Darcey's ongoing journey with maternal wellness has included yoga, trail-running, somatic therapy, and a relationship with plant medicines. Darcey enjoys skiing, hiking, and navigating new rivers with her family, and is deeply committed to social justice and decolonization efforts.
